Nestled in a little valley overlooking the Mediterranean near the town of Thoum, Beit al Batroun Bed & Breakfast is a haven of peace, a countryside retreat on the Lebanese sea coast, and only a 40-minute drive from Beirut.

Beit al Batroun is a labour of love for owner Colette Kahil, who has brought to life a dream 10 years in the making. Working alongside architect friend Wadih Chehaybar, Kahil drew up a house influenced by traditional Lebanese rural constructions, with rooms and sitting spaces articulated around a spacious central liwan.
Built using upcycled materials collected for years from around the country, including doors, beams, tiles, and a myriad of furniture, Kahil’s interior design relies on an intuitive marriage of restored vintage pieces, innovative design ideas, and hand crafts – Kahil is herself a mosaicist.

Beit al Batroun Bed & Breakfast opened its doors in July 2013 and was fully-booked every weekend until the end of her first Summer season. Kahil received accolades for the setting she created and the service offered by her boutique retreat, with rave reviews by press (including Monocle, Masculin, Le Monde, Executive, DECO magazine and the Daily Star) and guests alike. See press here.

Alongside Kloe, her pet French Bulldog, Kahil hosts up to 5 double bedrooms at any time, with a freshly-prepared breakfast buffet every morning using local produce, and dinners and cocktails served on the terrace in the evenings.

Beit al Batroun receives guests from April to November.
